about

In 1991, Dave and Ron added partner Larry Gromer who opened the Gladstone location that same year. Over the next few years the trio opened two more restaurants giving them a presence in the four corners of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Things have not always been easy for the trio. Protecting their original location from nature's own destruction has become somewhat of a cottage industry for the company. Three times between 1986 and 1998 the area of Kansas City on Southwest Boulevard, home to The Original' Margarita's, was flooded. In 1993 Margarita's gained national attention as news media descended on Kansas City to cover the floods and it's effects on local businesses. Pictures of Dave and the crews cleaning up and persevering made national television news and print media. Mother nature proved no match for the owners and employees of Margarita's. Each time, the Margarita's staff brought the restaurant back to life and kept 'The Original' an award winning dining destination on the Boulevard.

When it comes to the food and service, Margarita's does not just persevere, they excel. With awards from Zagat, Pitch Weekly and the Squire, Margarita's has won several coveted awards, including the Kansas City Live Gold Award, Reader's Choice Award and the Menu Award. Margarita's leadership in the Southwest Boulevard business community as well as support of local high schools and the Hispanic scholarship fund through fund raising activities earned them The Economic Development Corporation's Corner Stone Award for community involvement.

What will you find at Margaritas? What's not there is corporate cuisine and cantina music. The food is fresh and authentic and the background music to your afternoon or evening is decidedly contemporary Rock n-Roll. You are more likely to hear selections ranging from Steely Dan to Creed than you are to hear a note of cantina music. Why? Because it's fun, it's different and it provides a distinctive choice from other local restaurants.

Recently, Margarita's entered into retail marketing relationships meant to satisfy the demand for the distinctive flavor of Margarita's sauces. Price Chopper, Hen House and Hy-Vee stores are currently stocking Margarita's renowned sauces, including the spicy Four Alarm Red Sauce. You will find these sauces, as well other specialty items on sale at all restaurant locations.
