Event History and Basic Information
The Wine Opener is a national wine tasting series to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Held in more than 30 cities, from San Diego to Miami, The Wine Opener will reach an audience of thousands nationwide. Locally, the Kansas City Wine Opener will be held from 6-9pm Thursday, August 30th at Union Station located downtown KC. The Wine Opener will be a relaxed, yet lively, evening for approximately 600 expected guests.
From wine novices to advanced wine enthusiasts, The Wine Opener is a casual and fun evening for all experience levels! SIP GREAT WINES poured by international and domestic wineries. SAVOR GREAT CUISINE presented at festive tasting stations, where the area's hottest chefs prepare their specialties just for you. DISCOVER THE MARKETPLACE where local and national purveyors of fine foods, wines, liquors, and wine-related items present interactive displays for your enjoyment. Along with delicious food and wine pairings, and the sights and sounds of the marketplace, guests will be treated to lively auctions and entertainment. The Wine Opener targets young professionals, between the ages of 25 and 55.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease affecting 30,000 children and adults in the United States. CF causes the body to produce a thick, sticky mucus which impairs digestion and leads to life-threatening lung infections. For more than two decades, the Foundation has been recognized as one of the most effective and efficient organizations of its kind and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Mission
Since 1955, the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to assure the development of the means to cure and control CF and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. The CF Foundation tirelessly pursues this mission by supporting innovative research dedicated to discovering and developing new therapies and by funding and accrediting specialized care centers to treat people with the disease.
Ticket Price
For a $60 ticket, guests receive entrance into the event, all wine and food tastings, a keepsake tasting glass and a tasting journal (the event program). $90 VIP ticket holders receive all of the above plus a unique gift bag of products from the marketplace and access to the VIP Room featuring special vendors and elite wine tastings.
