The Fitz and Tantrums are coming to Kansas City, July 5th!! Join and they play at The Crossroads, located at 417 E 18th St Kansas City, MO 64108
From what some would call a Cinderella story, Fitz and The Tantrums started in their living room, with a found, hand-me down organ to opening for bands like Maroon 5, all within a year. The groups soulful sound is similar to that of 1969, with tunes you can’t sit still too. Since the group’s debut in 2008, and their latest album release in August’ 10, Fitz and The Tantrums have performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Late Night with Conan. Rolling Stone rated a 3 ½ Star Review, and their album, “Pickin’ Up the Pieces” reached number one on Billboard’s No. 1 on the Heatseekers Chart.
NightlifeKC had the opportunity to chat with Fitz and The Tantrum’s Drummer, John Wicks . We asked a few questions to get to know him better. After talking with John, we realize he’s not just your typical drummer. He said that if he wasn’t a drummer for F & TT, he would be an artist and painter. But his creativity didn’t stop there. John gave us the interview while in his twin daughters’ tree house. Surprisingly to most, John says he loves ultra-marathons such as Warrior Dash, and Tough Mudder. Wicks, seemingly to be a pretty chill guy, furthered to mention that his favorite drum set is a C&C set, made from right here in KC.
